Keter Organica is the leading Slovene producer of turnkey biogas power plants.

An investment in nature is a healthy investment!

An investment in environment friendly renewable energy sources is the best possible investment for the future, but also a great business opportunity. A testament to that is the success story of Keter Organica, the only biogas power plant producer in Slovenia.

Innovations for the future

Thanks to a well-planned development and a number of innovations we used for efficiently improving and lowering the cost of obtaining green energy from biomass, it only took us a few years to achieve an remarkable breakthrough on the domestic and foreign markets. First-rate Organica biogas power plants, which are the fruit of Slovene knowledge and innovations, combine the latest technological solutions and are considered to be among the best worldwide by eminent international experts. The company owns a number of patents and has in the past brought numerous novelties to the market. The combined Organica biogas power plant for production of biogas and bio-ethanol is setting the new benchmark for energy production from biodegradable waste in Europe and worldwide.

Quality that serves

Even at first glance, Organica biogas power plants are different from products offered by the competition. They not only benefit from well-thought-out design and the use of highest-quality materials, but also from flawless operation and excellent service. Large numbers of constructed devices enable us to provide a quality 24-hour service and a team of experts that will, in case a device stops working, repair the problem in the shortest possible amount of time and significantly reduce the loss due to stopped production.

Optimism for the future

Research and development are the central activities at Keter Organica. In Vučja vas near Beltinci we built the largest centre for biogas research in Europe. We employ numerous Slovene and foreign experts.
It is no coincidence that a company, which is considered one of the most successful Slovene energy companies, can, despite the economic crisis, plan a 250 % growth in the field of planning and construction of Organica biogas power plants on the domestic market, in Southeast Europe and in Russia, while looking to the future with optimism.

Biogas power plants – energy solution for the future

At a time when the global demand for energy is growing, concern for a cleaner environment is growing as well. While Japan is paying for its past mistakes, Germany is discussing permanently shutting down the last nuclear reactors and moving to environmentally friendlier green energy sources. Biogas power plants are devices that produce biogas from organic remains and waste. Due to their extreme energy potential and their safe and clean operation they are an energy solution that is an excellent investment for the future.

Why biogas?

Biogas – a mixture of gases that is produced during anaerobic fermentation of organic matter – is a renewable energy source and considered to be one of the most promising, most efficient and environment friendly fuels of the future. Production of green, environment friendly energy from biogas significantly contributes to lower greenhouse gas emissions and to a reduction of energy dependency on fossil fuels and other imported energy sources. On the other hand, biogas based energy offers a number of advantages in the field of energy and heat generation, fertilization and waste management. That is why experts are confident that there is a bright future ahead for biogas and biogas power plants.

A new source of income for farmers

The basic purpose of biogas power plants is not merely energy production and processing of organic waste that is produced in farming and cattle breeding (solid and liquid manure, silage…), but also to enable a more economic farming and additional income, which will help medium sized and small farms to survive. Green energy production is subsidized and the state guarantees renewable energy purchase prices for several years in advance. Last of all, biogas power plants also play an important ecologic function, as we use up most of our organic remains and waste for biogas production.

Europe supports biogas

Increased use of renewable energy sources and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere is one of EU’s fundamental policies and our country is no exception. Slovenia undertook to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 6 % by 2020 and to increase the share of renewable energy use from today’s 16 to 25 percent.
All developed EU states have already for a number of years been encouraging the construction of biogas power plants. They are an important factor in ensuring renewable energy sources, as the enable 24-hour green energy production (without greenhouse gas emissions) while also having a number of other positive effects. They not only help us produce energy, heat and high quality organic fertilizer, but also create new jobs and fundaments for a higher quality of life. Among other things, biogas power plants can also solve the problem of uncontrolled accumulation of organic waste (household and slaughterhouse waste, waste produced during production of juices, wine and beer, milk processing remains and liquid and solid manure), which is completely processed and contributes to keeping the environment clean. Their operation (without noise emissions or bad smell) is, contrary to certain prejudices, not merely a promising and less harmful method of energy production, but also a step toward a cleaner and healthier environment and energy independence.

Biogas power plants are best practice examples

Biogas power plant development trends in the EU are clear. All EU member states have been encouraging their construction for years. In Germany, which is at the forefront of investing into renewable energy sources, there are already over 5,000 biogas power plants, but they still plan to build 12,000 additional ones by 2020. Biogas power plants in Germany are the driving force for agricultural revitalization and renewable energy sources play a much more important role there. Other developed states also follow the example of most developed ones in energy produced from biogas. In the neighbouring Austria, where they are also highly aware of the significance of renewable energy sources, there are already more than 400 biogas power plants in operation.

What is the biogas potential in Slovenia?

According to an analysis by the Slovene Chamber of Agriculture and Forestry, Slovenia has sufficient biomass potential to build at least 86 megawatts worth of biogas power plants (currently 14 MW worth of power plants are in operation). According to a better scenario, there is even enough biomass for 147 megawatts without significantly affecting the primary agricultural food production. This energy could be used to supply more than 319,000 households. The largest agricultural potential for the production of biogas in Slovenia is located in the Pomurje and the Podravje region, followed by the Central Slovene region, Gorenjska and Savinjska regions. Currently, the lowest biogas production potential is in the Zasavska, Koroška and Notranjsko-kraška region.

Agricultural boom

Biogas power plants are an excellent solution for energy and heat production in our rural areas, while also producing quality organic fertilizer without unpleasant smells. In addition, they can ensure energy independence and a number of options for an economic boom. There is more than enough potential for construction of biogas power plants in the Slovene countryside, certain places are merely lacking the awareness that biogas power plants help protect the environment, reduce energy consumption and create new jobs and new opportunities for rural development.

Responsibility for the future

Here at Keter Organica, a Keter Group subsidiary that is, together with its associated companies, trained, technologically equipped and specialised in implementation of the most complex projects in the field of renewable energy sources and strategic investments, we strive to improve the social responsibility toward nature through our activities – planning and construction of Organica biogas power plants. As an important development actor in the field of renewable energy sources in Slovenia, we are convinced that investing in biogas power plants is the right investment for the future. Each Organica biogas power plant is a gift to nature and all of us for a batter future, which will benefit us all.
